Quabbin, Then And Now

"Quabbin, Then and Now” Dale Monette has taken DCR images from the Quabbin Reservoir archives taken in the mid 1930’s of the construction of the Quabbin Reservoir and recreated these photographs from the same location in present day settings. Come see how the houses and scenes looked during the construction period of the Quabbin compared to what it looks like now some 80 years later. Many never seen before images from the DCR Archives are included in this program. You will also see pictures of what everyday life was like living the 4 Quabbin Valley towns that would soon be no more.

PROGRAM "I SEE YOU"

“ “I SEE YOU”. My 4th book release. This program coincides with the book. Throughout my travels doing programs, meeting people, and selling prints and books over the last 10 years, people always comment on how they enjoy the stories that go with the images I show during my presentations.  I decided to take some of my favorite unpublished images that have some interesting stories behind them and put them together as my fourth book and entitle it “I SEE YOU”  This program is a preview of the book and delves into what camera equipment and lenses I used for the images, the habitat I was in, the time of the season and the circumstances that made getting the photograph possible.

PRESENTATION Bald Eagles at Quabbin Reservoir

On Tuesday evening at 6:30PM on April 16 at the Beals Memorial Library, in Winchendon MA , I will be giving a presentation about the bald eagle restoration project that took place throughout the 1980’s at The Quabbin Reservoir. MassWildlife released a total of 41 immature bald eagles at the Quabbin with hopes to restore the bald eagle to Massachusetts as a nesting specie. The last known bald eagle nest was in 1906 on Cape Cod. You’ve seen eagles at Quabbin and all around Massachusetts now,, but do you know the story behind them getting there? I do ! I was part of it. Come by and see the whole process from when the birds are brought as chicks to the Prescott Peninsula “hack site” on Quabbin, until they are released into the wild 6 weeks later.

PRESENTATION :::: Secrets of The Quabbin Watershed

“Secrets of the Quabbin Watershed” is a book released by Dale Monette and Haley Publishing in September of 2017. Dale has spent 0ver 4 years with many thousands of hours on the 82,000 acre Quabbin Reservoir watershed in central MA photographing wildlife and now 130 of his best photographs will be released in a beautiful book. Here are his stories and photographs of the animals of Quabbin as they go about their daily routines on the Quabbin Watershed. See what Monette and his camera saw, from eagles and loons to otters, bears and more, along with scenic views of the 18-mile-long Reservoir. His vivid photographic show of the same name is a perfect compliment to his book. Both are coupled with informative, engaging narrative. Monette is an expert in the nature and history of the Quabbin; he worked 25 years as an educator and a naturalist at the Quabbin Reservoir. Dale’s website: www.northquabbinphotography.com.

Voyagers, Visitors and Home

This book focuses on birds that visit New England just for a stop over during migration, birds that spend months here, or birds and mammals that live here and call New England home. Five years in the making and many miles traveled, not to mention the gallons of blood lost to mosquitos in ponds and swamps! Here are the images and the stories behind them. Also included is a section on the successful bald eagle introduction as a nesting species to Massachusetts that took place at The Quabbin Reservoir during the 1980’s by MassWildlife. From great gray owls to red-backed voles come by and see what, where and who I found in my travels around New England

PRESENTATION. ::: Year of The Bird , Royalston, MA

2018 marked the centennial of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the most powerful and important bird-protection law ever passed. In honor of this milestone, National Geographic, the National Audubon Society, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and BirdLife International have joined forces with more than 100 other organizations and millions of people around the world to celebrate 2018 as the “Year of the Bird.” This effort aims to heighten public awareness of birds because of their wonder and beauty—and because they symbolize nature’s interconnectedness and the importance of caring for our shared planet.

My work is available to view on my website North Quabbin Photography .
